Paul Teixeira was born and lived in South Africa until 1986 when he moved to the USA for his studies and a career in competitive swimming at Ohio University, where he was awarded "Athlete of the Year" and swam internationally for Portugal in the Latin Cup. After graduating from Ohio University in 1992 with a degree in Physical Therapy, Paul moved to San Luis Obispo to be closer to the ocean and surf.

He spent twelve years, before opening the Body and Balance Center in February 2004, working locally in three outpatient physical therapy clinics and part time in a local acute care hospital settings gaining knowledge of the importance of patient education and their own involvement in their recovery process. He is an avid reader on issues of health and nutrition and expands his wealth of knowledge with many continuing education classes concerning today’s health issues.

The Body and Balance Center offers a fun, friendly, motivating and safe environment to facilitate recovery from injury and ensure improved health through exercise, education, and therapeutic intervention. By means of our friendly and professional staff along with the latest in exercise equipment and balance technology, we aim to optimize our clients' health, fitness, safety and recovery from injury. We encourage active participation of clients in progressing towards their own goals and introduce patients to the emotional and physical connections to health.
